Frequently Asked Questions

Waitlist

How do I get on the waitlist?

All students can be put onto the PCK waitlist by navigating to the "Join Our Waitlist option in the "Enrollment" drop-down.

What is the Kindergarten Entrance Age Requirement?

Per Douglas County School District Kindergarten Requirements, eligible children must be five years of age by October 1 of the school year they plan to attend.

Parker Core Knowledge has a kindergarten deferment policy that requires students to accept a position in their age-appropriate kindergarten year and work with school administration before they may be eligible to defer waitlist years.

What are my “chances” of receiving an offer?

Extending offers is a dynamic process that is constantly in motion. We are unable to respond to questions about a student's "chance" of receiving an offer because there are simply too many variables at play (number of openings, number of students on the waitlist, acceptance/decline rate of offers extended to families in front of you, current families deciding they are unable to return which creates vacancies, families who accepted an offer in the past but later decided they will not accept an offer, etc.). The bulk of kindergarten offers are typically made to families by January 31st, while we do make offers as vacancies arise all the way through August 1st. The bulk of offers in other grade-levels are made in May, but other vacancies may arise through the summer.

If I just moved here how likely is it that I will get in?

Placing your child on the PCK waiting list is the only way to get a spot in our classes. While our waitlist and classes do fill quickly, we recommend putting your child on the waitlist as soon as you have an interest in attending PCK.

You must enroll on our waitlist first.  This waitlist is a first-come, first-served waitlist.  For newcomers to Parker, it is unlikely that you will receive an offer.  However, you will not receive an offer at all if you do not join the waitlist.  If a seat does become available for your child, we will contact you.

Is my family required to live in Douglas County School District in order to join the waitlist?

You are not required to live in Douglas County to add to our waitlist. However, in-district families will receive priority. You must have a Douglas County proof of residency at the time of enrollment to accept a position at PCK. If your family is moving to Douglas County and will have proof or residency before August, please get in touch with admissions@ckcs.net. Per our school's charter contract with DCSD, we are legally obligated to extend offers of enrollment to in-district families before we extend offers to out-of-district families.

How will you contact me?

PCK sends enrollment communications via our online system, so please be sure your contact information is always current and watch for email and/or texts from PCK.

Do I need to reapply to the waitlist each year?

You do not need to reapply each year. Your student will remain on our waitlist until you accept/decline an offer of enrollment, withdraw your application, or until the school is unable to reach you via your preferred contact information.

My child just received an offer at another school, will that affect our waitlist status?

You may enroll your child at another school and remain on our waitlist.  It will not affect your waitlist status at PCK.  Should you receive an offer of enrollment from PCK after accepting the offer from the other school, it is your responsibility to contact the other school and disenroll.

How do I learn more about PCK?

To learn more about our school, including our administration, curriculum, and history, please visit our About pages.

What if I am interested in the PCK preschool or Junior Kindergarten?

If you are interested in our Preschool and Junior Kindergarten, please visit our preschool website. Placing your child on the K-8 waiting list does not secure a spot in our Preschool and/or Junior Kindergarten program.

Offer of Enrollment

When do I receive an offer of enrollment?

Offers of enrollment for kindergarten are generally sent in December of the year prior to the year of your child entering kindergarten. Offers of enrollment for 1st - 8th grades will generally be sent starting in May of the prior school year and through the first semester of any school year.

How will I know if my child has received an offer of enrollment at PCK?

If your child receives an offer of enrollment, you will receive an email and/or text message from School Mint with further instructions.

You will receive an email and a text message from SchoolMint.  Please make sure you have enabled SMS messaging from SchoolMint in your profile (link to SchoolMint) in order to receive text messages.  Make sure that noreply+ckcs@schoolmintemails.com and admissions@ckcs.net is allowed on your spam filter.

You will have 48 hours to respond to the offer of enrollment.

What do I do after I receive an offer of enrollment?

If you receive an offer of enrollment through School Mint please follow the instruction to accept the offer, pay the non-refundable deposit, and turn in your enrollment documents to the PCK office. If you are unable to meet the deadlines for offer acceptance, deposit, or enrollment documents you may be at risk of losing your spot at PCK.

How long do I have to accept an offer?

You MUST accept the offer within 48 hours of receiving the text or email or you will be withdrawn from the waitlist.
