Thank You, Veterans

Thank you to all of the veterans and their families who came to our Veterans Day event. We appreciate your service to our country and the time you spent with us today. Special thanks goes to those who visited classrooms after the assembly to share some of the wisdom gained during their time of service. Our students loved it and learned a lot about the importance of our military. We enjoyed hearing from two very special speakers during our assembly who both shared how dependability, this month's character trait, is crucial in service. Colonel Amy Boehle, USAF, helped our students understand many of the ways those within our military depend on each other. PCK alumnus (and son of our own Miss Sara) Senior Airman Samuel Mundt spoke about ways we depend on both the military and the police. He works with the Space Force and is an officer with the Sheridan Police Department. We send a sincere thank you to both of these heroes for their service and for sharing with us today.

We also send a big thank you to everyone who donated food to today's breakfast, and to Robin Frey and Jay Bolivar who were an enormous help as our breakfast hosts. We couldn't have done it without your help!

Finally, we thank the middle school band for adding musical flair to our event with the playing of "The Star Spangled Banner" and "Armed Forces On Parade," and to Cub Scout Pack 369 for doing our opening and closing flag ceremonies. These student contributions are a very special part of the morning. If you have a son in kindergarten through 4th grade who enjoyed the flag ceremony and is interested in joining PCK's Cub Scout pack, please contact Blaise Singer.

PCK's Math Program Multiplies Student Success

Learn the ins and outs of PCK's math program at our next Parent Education Series session. Join Mrs. Harth, Miss Donovan (1st grade), Mrs. Robbins (3rd grade), and Mrs. Harper (middle school) at 6:30pm on Tuesday, November 16 for a discussion on all things math. Please submit this form to RSVP.

Mask Update

A federal judge on Monday extended a temporary restraining order through November 22 that prohibits the Douglas County Board of Health from enforcing its public health order allowing parents to opt their children out of the DCSD mask requirement.

U.S. District Court of Colorado Senior Judge Kane extended the temporary restraining order, which was issued October 26, until 3:00pm on November 22 and set another status conference in the case for this Friday at 10:00am.

We will continue to enforce mask wearing at PCK while we await the outcome of this legal process.

Science Lab Fun

Our kindergarteners love Science Lab! Last week they had to create their own pulleys out of materials they were given, then they compared the effects of pushes and pulls on the motion of an object. They were challenged with figuring out how to lift a heavy load, then had to determine if their pulley designs worked or not. They had a great time while learning important scientific principles.
