Have A Wonderful Winter Break

PCK is closed for winter break starting on Monday. Students come back to school on Tuesday, January 4. Have a fun and restful break!

Thank You For Sharing Your Holiday Spirit

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for all of the kind gifts, words, and sentiments you have shared with us this week. All of us at PCK know how blessed we are to have such amazing families at the school, especially during the holidays.

We can't give enough thanks to everyone who brought in cookies for the Cookie Extravaganza. The cookies were beautiful, delicious, and very much appreciated. Special thanks to Anu Manne, Ashley Scarlett, Beckie McLeod, Chihchi Sun, Chris Brennan, Holly Steinbeck, Jackie Gragert, Jennifer Smith, Julie Fox, Lanaia Rawson, Marie Turk, Pradnya Gothoskar, Rebekah Kennedy, Renee Cawley, Robin Frey, Stephanie Coe, Tish Bender, and Tracy Maisonet for bringing in cookies.

Lost and Found

Please stop by the school by the end of the day tomorrow to check for items belonging to your family that may be in our lost and found. All items left at the end of the day on Friday will be donated to charity over the break. Also, please make sure every item your child brings to school is labeled with his/her first and last name. This includes lunch boxes, water bottles, and all outerwear. Please use your child's full name rather than initials so we can try to return lost items to their owners. Thanks for your help!

School Safety Survey Due Tomorrow

Our School Accountability Committee (SAC) conducts a series of short parent surveys throughout the year to gather information and feedback on important school topics. This is the first of three mini-surveys they will send out this year, in addition to the larger end-of-year annual survey. At this time, they are gathering feedback on the physical safety, emotional well-being, and health of students while at school. There are only six questions, so it won't take long to complete. Thank you to everyone who has already submitted their survey. If you have not yet completed it, please do so by tomorrow, December 17. Access the survey here.

A Cool Club For Girls Who Code

Girls Who Code is a FREE after-school computer science program for girls in grades 3 - 5. The group will meet for eight weeks on Thursdays from 3:05 - 4:00pm in Mrs. White's computer lab starting on January 20. Questions? Contact Mrs. White. Although the club is free, registration is required through My School Bucks. Once you are registered with PCK, Mrs. White will send you information about registering with Girls Who Code. There are a limited number of spots available, so sign up today!

Square 1 Art Update

As is often the case with shipped items this year, our Square 1 Art order is arriving later than expected. It shipped last week but still has not made it to the school. We hope it will arrive later today or tomorrow so we can send home orders with the students. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience if the items don't arrive by tomorrow.

You Made The Season Bright For Kids

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Toys For Tots toy drive, sponsored by NJHS and Student Council. We collected seven large boxes full of toys for children in need. Thank you for your generosity!

Don't Miss The Cougar Cast

In this episode of Cougar Cast, learn about the character trait of honesty, the Rainbow Mountains, how minerals affect the color of the ground, and tardigrades. Our students always do a great job with these productions!

Boys Volleyball Is Coming To PCK

Any boy in grades 6 - 8 who may be interested in trying out for PCK's volleyball team may attend an open gym after school until 4:30pm on Friday, January 7 and Friday, January 28. This is a great opportunity to practice before try-outs and ask questions about the team. Open gym sessions are free, but students must be registered on My School Bucks before attending. See this flyer for more information.

From The Foundation at PCK

The Annual Giving Campaign is well underway, raising $16,024 so far! The campaign will go until January and help fund our playground project. Our playground is 20 years old and needs an update. In the past, the Foundation has helped fund large projects like the elementary science lab, no-touch hand washing station in the lunchrooms, Chromebooks for students, teacher grants that give teachers funds for classrooms items that aren’t otherwise covered in the budget, and so much more. None of this would be possible without the help of the PCK family. We appreciate you all more than you know!

Thank you to all the families that have already donated!

"Taking A Hit" For The Kids

Mr. Thompson and Mr. Minshall were good sports when they visited the Middle School Special Effects Makeup elective on Wednesday. They let the students practice their skills by creating bruises, scars, and wounds on them. The students did an amazing job, and their work looked very realistic. Thank you, Mr. Thompson and Mr. Minshall!

Stand Up For Safety

Thank you to Patrick Lee, Andrew Roraff, Lokesh Thakkalapatti, and Denis Branco for being our Safety Dads this week. Our students love seeing dads here to keep our perimeter secure, help with lunch and recess, and assist with other activities as needed. Click here to learn more about being a Safety Dad or to sign up.

Thank You

A great big thank you goes to Laverne Bila, great-grandmother of Addisyn and Bentley Mace, for baking our staff a HUGE assortment of fabulous holiday goodies. They were delicious and we appreciate all of the time you put into spoiling us so well. Thank you!

Popcorn is a huge hit with out staff, and the Banwart family graciously brought everyone individual cones of flavored popcorn. Thank you for this wonderful treat!

Thank you to Cub Scout Pack 369 for bringing our staff a delicious assortment of popcorn and pretzels.

The Schaefer family brought a wonderful box of goodies from Mrs. Field's. Each item was a taste treat that we loved.

Kelly Anderson's homemade chocolate chip cookies are always a staff favorite, and they didn't disappoint this week. Thanks for taking such good care of us!
