Carpool Survival Tips

In order to keep our carpool process flowing as smoothly and quickly as possible, please have your students keep their backpacks with them in the car. Students who go to the back/trunk of the car to retrieve backpacks take more time and cause delays. It is okay if your student has an occasional poster or large project that needs to ride in the back of the car.

Cars turning into the school off of Pine Drive are asked to be considerate and take turns entering the driveway. When the flow of traffic allows it, south-bound drivers need to let north-bound drivers turn left into our driveway. We encourage a “taking turns” approach so that both north-bound and south-bound cars can safely enter our property without causing back-ups on Pine Drive. Please also pull up as far as you safely can so we don’t have the backs of cars sticking out of our driveway onto Pine Drive.

As a National School of Character, we trust all of our families to demonstrate patience, respect, and courtesy during our carpool process. Thank you!

Are You A Myth Buster?

There are many myths about Charter Public School funding, mill levy overrides, and how Charters handle special education. Do you know the truth? Do you have the facts you need to help educate other parents?

Parents, teachers, staff and community supporters of Charter Public Schools are encouraged to attend the Charter Leader Forum on Thursday, September 28, to hear from special guest speaker, Interim Superintendent Erin Kane, about the state of Charter Public Schools. Get the details here:

Congratulations to Our Winning Triathlete

Sam Koch (6th grade) competed in the Littlefoot Sprint Triathlon (750m swim, 15K bike, 5K run) last Saturday, September 16. He placed first in the 15-under division. Way to go, Sam! Training for a triathlon takes serious dedication and courage.

Volunteers Needed For Veteran’s Day Planning Committee

We are looking for a group of parent volunteers to help us plan a special Veteran’s Day celebration to honor those who have served our country. The celebration will be November 10. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Dianne Daniels at ddaniels@ckcs.net.

Attention Early Birds!

Please remind all students getting dropped off before 7:35am that they must remain at the main entrance to the school until the buildings are open to students. 5th and 6th graders may not go down to the new building until 7:35. Thanks for your help in keeping all of our students safe!

It Is Box Tops Contest Time

Bring your clipped Box Tops in a sealable plastic bag with your teacher’s name on it Monday, 9/18 – Friday, 10/6. There is a collection box near the front office.

The classrooms with the most collected will get a special prize.

Correction to last week’s newsletter: We will NOT be participating in the Milk Caps for Moola program through Longmont Dairy. Sorry for the confusion!

PCK Cares

Last weekend, several of our middle school students volunteered at The Edwards Foundation. They cleaned stalls, cared for the animals, and did general help around the farm.

Erica Cobb and Lauren Ermentraut help a pony get some exercise.

Sam Anderson and Ben Kester learn that caring for rescued animals is hard work.

Are you using your King Soopers/Safeway reloadable gift cards?

Using your gift card is a NO COST and easy way to give back to our school. PCK earns 5% on all monies loaded. The fundraising possibilities are limitless! We all have to eat and put gas in our cars. If all of our PCK families spent $500 a month at the grocery store using their reloadable gift cards, it would net $138,000 annually to our school!!  Currently only 6% of PCK families participate. Please consider this NO COST and easy way to give back to our school.

The holidays will be here before you know it! What a great gift for a family member. Additional cards are available at the front desk (please see Laura Parkes). New families to PCK will each receive a card in your Thursday folder in the coming weeks. If your card has been inactive for a significant amount of time, it may no longer work and you may need a new one. If you have any questions about this program, please contact Yvette Fonda at (303)257-5579 or yfonda@helmsbriscoe.com
