Parent/Teacher Conferences Are Next Week

We will have Parent/Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, February 12 and Wednesday, February 13. Conference sign-ups are available here.

We will have an early dismissal on both conference days. Carpool will run as usual but three hours earlier, with pick-up windows starting at 12:10, 12:20, and 12:30. For example, if you are normally in the 3:10 pick-up window you will get your student at 12:10 on Tuesday and Wednesday.

If your child will be picked up by a grandparent/friend/other who is not used to our carpool procedure, please make sure that person has your carpool sign and understands how our process works. If you are in the north carpool loop, please remind your driver that left turns into the PCK lot are not permitted during carpool.

Things To Know For Next Week

Our middle school is hosting a dress down day fundraiser on Wednesday, February 13. All students may dress down in exchange for a donation of any amount. The students are raising money for the 8th grade graduation celebration.

On Thursday, February 14 we will have our Valentine’s Day parties and students may dress down (for free) in red, pink, and white.

PCK will be closed on Friday, February 15 and Monday, February 18 for the Presidents’ Day holiday. Enjoy the long weekend!

We have two new Tech Clubs starting in February. Students in 4th – 8th grades can participate in Python and/or Java clubs before school. Get the details here.

In Search of Shovelers

We are looking for parent volunteers to help shovel the blacktop portion of our backyard when it snows so we can have outdoor recess. We have shovels at the school, but if you have a snowblower you can bring the job will go more quickly. This volunteer opportunity will be in the mornings before 9:00am. If you would like to be on call for this task, please contact Laura Parkes at the front desk. She will compile a list of volunteers and will contact you when we need help.

THANK YOU to Corey Yanzito for shoveling today. It will make a huge difference when we go outside tomorrow!

Get Jumping For Kids Heart Challenge

The Physical Education Department has our annual Kids Heart Challenge (jump rope unit) in February. During this month-long unit, we partner with the American Heart Association to teach your students how to take care of their hearts and be heart healthy. Every year we conclude the unit with special Jump Rope Challenge Days on February 27 and 28. On these days we encourage students to dress down and donate to the American Heart Association. We ask for a one-time $10 donation (cash prefered) on Wednesday, February 27. Students will give their donations to their classroom teachers. All K-8 students may participate, and all donations go to the American Heart Association. We look forward to an exciting month of the Kids Heart Challenge.

Spring Gala News From The Foundation At PCK

Our Spring Gala & Auction planning is underway! We continue to be impressed by the generosity and support of our PCK families.  We sent a letter out last week outlining our current sponsorship opportunities. If you missed our letter, you can see it here.  There are still sponsorship opportunities available. Please commit by February 14th to have your business logo included on all printed Gala marketing materials.

We are also accepting donations and can’t wait to see the themed gift baskets for each grade.  It’s CONTEST TIME – may the best grade win! The grade’s gift basket(s) that gets the highest bid at this year’s Spring Gala wins. Prize details will be sent out closer to the event. If you have not received a Sign Up Genius or otherwise heard from your classroom coordinators about the items needed for your child’s classroom gift baskets, please contact them directly.
