12/21/17

From The Director

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…and it is also one of my favorite weeks of the entire school year! It’s busy, it’s crazy, but it is also filled with so much excitement, anticipation, and plenty of love and laughter! As a staff, we have been overwhelmed once again by your generosity in gifts, cards, and goodies (all fat free, right?). Thank you for thinking of us during this busy holiday season.

As we wrap up the first semester and prepare for the upcoming holiday festivities and winter fun ahead, I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful winter break. May you find time amidst the chaos to relish the simple pleasures of spending time with family and friends, giving and sharing, and enjoying the natural beauty of the season! If we’re lucky, we might even—dare we hope—have a white Christmas this year!

On behalf of the entire staff, we wish each and every PCK family much love, joy, and peace in the coming year.

See you back on January 9th!

Mrs. Aplin

Join Us In Saying Goodbye

When your students return to school after the break, they may notice some different faces around PCK. Mrs. Tomlin will not be returning to her 2nd grade class while she helps her family following the passing of her mother. Miss Kroskob has already joined the 2nd grade team and is off to a great start with those students. We are currently interviewing candidates to fill the Resource Teacher vacancy Miss Kroskob left when she moved to 2nd grade.

Additionally, Mrs. Dukes (middle school science) and Mr. Taylor (technology) are not returning after the break. Both are leaving PCK to pursue new opportunities in the business arena. Mrs. Reifsteck will move from middle school math to middle school science, and we have hired Carey Holms as a long-term sub for Mrs. Reifsteck’s math classes. Heather White will be the long-term sub for Mr. Taylor’s classes. We are actively searching for permanent teachers for technology and middle school math.

We are sad to see these members of our team leave, but we hope you will join us in wishing them well in their new endeavors.

Please Make A Stop At Our Lost and Found Tomorrow

All items left in Lost and Found will be donated over the break. Please make sure you check for any missing items when you are here for your child’s holiday party or concert.

Congratulations PCK Writers!

PCK has two finalists in the Rocky Mountain PBS StoryMakers writing contest. Gustav Blom and Kyla Hopkins (both in 6th grade) are our two finalists. There were 560 entries and only 8 finalists per grade level.

They are invited to:
-An all-day workshop (and station tour) facilitated by an instructor from Lighthouse Writers Workshop and a journalist at the Rocky Mountain PBS station in Denver.
-An awards luncheon for all finalists and their families. Winners are announced and special prizes awarded. Winners’ stories are published on the Rocky Mountain PBS website.

Congratulations, Gus and Kyla!

5th Grade Treats 12 Children This Christmas

Madison Pieper and Grace Yanzito challenged the 5th grade to sponsor 12 kids from the KYGO Christmas Crusade for Children. Boy did our 5th grade families step up to the plate! Thanks to the gifts and monetary donations, all 12 kids received every item on their lists. The Christmas Crusade for Children is a program where metro law enforcement officers bring the joy of Christmas to underprivileged children and foster positive relationships with the communities they serve. Way to go 5th grade, and thank you for organizing this, Madison and Grace!
