From The Director
Here at PCK, we are so thankful for all of the men and women who serve our country in the armed forces. Tomorrow we have the opportunity to honor them and thank them for their service when we observe Veteran’s Day. Both Veterans and active duty servicemen and servicewomen are joining us for a special morning. We will have an all-school assembly with a flag ceremony presented by some of our Boy Scouts, a musical tribute from our middle school band, and we will hear from a Veteran and Homes For Our Troops house recipient. Some of our special guests will visit classrooms to talk about their service experience and may show the class a piece of equipment or special keepsake from their time of service. Lastly, we will have several military vehicles here that our students can look at during recess. It will be a special day, and we never forget that we are free to learn, to ask questions, and to celebrate because of the sacrifices made by so many brave men and women. We are truly thankful, and we are grateful for the opportunity to honor our Veterans and active duty servicemen and servicewomen tomorrow. Please take some time this weekend to ask your student about the Veteran’s Day event, and what your child learned about service, dependability (our character trait for November), and courage from our distinguished guests.

Thanks For A Fabulous Trunk-Or-Treat
Every Trunk at last week’s celebration was amazing, so it was very difficult for the judges to pick a winner for each category. However, the votes have been tallied and here are the results:
Most Creative: 4th Grade – “Camp” by the Stef family
Funniest: 1st Grade – “Jurassic Park” by the Buswell family
Scariest: 5th Grade – “Scary Headless Horseman” by the Faries family
Best Décor/Props: 4th Grade – “Broncos” by the Suhyani family
Best Overall: 2nd Grade – “Up” by the Koch family
Trunk-or-Treat winners, check your student’s Thursday folder for a special thank you from the PTA.
Thank you to everyone who decorated a trunk, donated candy, and helped with classroom parties. It was a great afternoon thanks to your hard work. We appreciate you!
Treats For Our Troops Results
Thanks to the donations of our amazing families, PCK collected 470 pounds of candy to send overseas to our military. Your generosity will be felt by our troops and by children around the world.
Thank You For Supporting Homes For Our Troops
On Tuesday we had a dress down fundraiser bringing in $897 for Homes For Our Troops, an organization providing adaptive housing for injured veterans. A check for this amount will be presented to Homes For Our Troops in tomorrow’s Veteran’s Day assembly.
Don’t Sweat The Wrong Stuff
The next class in our Parent Education Series is Things Parents Worry About (But Don’t Need To) presented by PCK Character Coach, Dianne Daniels on Thursday, November 15 at 6:30pm. Learn why it is okay when kids cry, lose, miss out on things, or don’t master certain skills, and how you can use these situations to create powerful learning opportunities that lead to a more peaceful home life. Once you free yourself from worrying about those things, you will have more energy to focus on the four traits you should be giving extra attention. Find out what they are in this engaging class for parents with children of all ages. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Calling All Shakespearians
PCK is proud to announce that we will be participating in the 2nd annual Douglas County Shakespeare Festival. The festival will be held on Wednesday, March 27th at the PACE Center in Parker. Middle and high school students will perform scenes and soliloquies from the works of William Shakespeare. Mrs. Puckett is the PCK school coordinator, and she is looking for students in grades 6-8 who are interested in participating. She will be holding an informational meeting in her classroom on Tuesday, November 13th from 3:10-3:45 p.m. All aspiring Shakespearians should plan to attend!
